Did you see Gareth Malone’s Easter Passion on TV recently?
Gareth invited eight untrained singers to accept a challenge to learn Bach’s St John Passion and perform it with a classical four-part choir (the BBC Singers no less!). The purpose was to challenge people who had some experience of singing to consider ‘the next step’. For many joining a choral society or choir was that next step and they found that singing these great choral works was in fact so beneficial in many ways and great fun!
