Hallelujah ... we’re back!
Tuesday evening saw our first Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir ‘Half Rehearsal’ after seven months apart. Only half of us at a time for now to ensure social distancing but it felt great!
It was a joy to sing choral favourites from Mozart, Vivaldi, Fauré, Elgar, and Brahms and what could be a more fitting way to close the rehearsal than Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus! It almost lifted the roof, it certainly lifted the spirits.
Huge thanks to St Peter and St Paul’s Catholic Church, Wakefield for a perfect, COVID-secure venue. Such an appropriate setting for choral singing and quite an emotional moment to hear those first few bars resonating around the church from voices that hadn’t been heard together for so long.
