Returning Home

As you may already know, the YPC's concert on 20th April is to be something of a prestigious event as it is the first concert of our Diamond Jubilee season to take place in Wakefield Cathedral.

While we at the YPC have been eternally grateful to the Wakefield Grammar School Foundation, specifically Queen Elizabeth Grammar School and Wakefield Girls' High School, for the fantastic support they gave us throughout the last year during which the Cathedral has been undergoing renovation, the Choir are very excited and looking forward to returning to the place we have called home for many years.

The work which has been carried out on Wakefield Cathedral has been a massive undertaking, but not without just rewards. Our friends in the Cathedral have mentioned that members of the congregation, audience, or visiting public will discover some fascinating new features.

The weekly Cathedral Catch-Up newsletter had this to say:

This week in the Nave: the floor is finished and the labyrinth almost complete. Heating should now be working in both ends of the Cathedral - hurrah!

The medieval angel is being carefully cleaned and stabilised. The first service in the newly renovated nave will be the Palm Sunday Eucharist on Sunday 24 March at 9.15am.
